چکیده

This memo provides information for the Internet community. This memo does not specify an Internet standard of any kind. Distribution of this memo is unlimited. Abstract This document describes HMAC, a mechanism for message authentication using cryptographic hash functions. HMAC can be used with any iterative cryptographic hash function, e.g., MD5, SHA-1, in combination with a secret shared key. The cryptographic strength of HMAC depends on the properties of the underlying hash function.

Efficient Small-Sized Implementation of the Keyed-Hash Message Authentication Code

A design approach to create small-sized high-speed implementations of the Keyed-Hash Message Authentication Code (HMAC) is presented. The proposed implementation can either operate in HMAC-MD5 and/or in HMAC-SHA1 mode. The proposed implementations do not introduce significant area penalty. However the achieved throughput presents an increase compared to commercially available IP cores that rang...

Comparative Study of DECIM-128 and DECIMV2 in relation to Compact Hash-based Message Authentication Code

constructing compact HMAC (Hash-based Message Authentication Code) is required to maintain integrity and authentication in computationally constrained environments like Wireless sensor networks and RFID. DECIM is a hardware oriented stream cipher submitted to the ECRYPT stream cipher project. It is highly scrutinized stream cipher and is portable to implement hashing for highly compact MAC, whi...

HMAC-MD5 IP Authentication with Replay Prevention

This document describes a keyed-MD5 transform to be used in conjunction with the IP Authentication Header [RFC-1826]. The particular transform is based on [HMAC-MD5]. An option is also specified to guard against replay attacks.

Keyed Hash Functions

We give a new deenition of keyed hash functions and show its relation with strongly universal hash functions and Cartesian authenti-cation codes. We propose an algorithm for a secure keyed hash function and present preliminary result on its performance. The algorithm can be used for fast (about twice the speed of MD5) and secure message authentication.

FPGA Implementation of an HMAC Processor based on the SHA-2 Family of Hash Functions

The utilization of hash functions and Keyed-Hash Message Authentication Codes (HMAC) are of utmost importance to ensure data integrity and data origin authentication in digital communications. Until recently, protocols used in the Internet, such as the Internet Key Exchange (IKE), Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) and Transport Layer Security (TLS), employed HMAC in conjunction with MD5 and SH...
